Ronaldo’s Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr parts ways with coach Luis Castro
Al Nassr have announced the departure of their Portuguese coach Luis Castro a day after starting their AFC Champions League Elite campaign with a disappointing draw.
The Riyadh-based club expressed gratitude to Luis and his staff for their dedicated work in a post on X without disclosing why he was no longer in the role. Castro leaves after more than a year in charge of the team led by Cristiano Ronaldo. Under his leadership, Al Nassr lifted the Arab Club Champions Cup last year, competing against 37 teams from Asia and Africa.
Currently, Al Nassr sits seventh in the league standings with five points, having won only one of their first three matches this season. They finished second last season, 14 points behind Al Hilal, and lost the Saudi Super Cup final 4-1 to the league champions earlier in August.
