Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh on Thursday received President of International Finance Corporation (IFC), Mokhtar Dayoub, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Investment Kholoud Saqqaf and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zina Touqan, Khasawneh stressed importance of strengthening the existing 'strategic' Jordan-IFC partnership and supporting implementation of Jordan's priority projects.
Khasawneh also noted Jordan's aspiration to expand IFC's investments in the Kingdom and provide financial and technical support to implement the Kingdom's major projects that are underway, primarily Water Desalination and Conveyance Project and National Water Carrier Project.
Affirming National Water Carrier Project's 'high' priority, PM added that the government is working to expedite its implementation procedures in light of the Kingdom's 'immense' water deficit and presence of 'large' numbers of refugees on its territories.
Moreover, Khasawneh noted draft law of public-private partnership projects , which is expected to be completed soon, would contribute to accelerating procedures for implementing partnership projects, within framework of the required transparency and governance.
For his part, Dayoub commended joint Jordan-IFC cooperation and partnership relations, stressing the corporation's continuity to support the Kingdom to achieve its development priorities for the next stage.
Dayoub noted IFC is working to make Jordan a regional hub to support its funded operations and projects in the region.
