GCC condemns far-right Israeli minister's 'racist' statements against Palestinians
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Budaiwi, Tuesday condemned the 'offensive and racist' statements of the far-right Israeli finance minister after he denied the existence of the Palestinian people and used a map of Israel that includes Jordan and the occupied Palestinian Territories.
Budaiwi said in a statement that there is a 'need' to address hate speech and violence and promote the values of tolerance and human coexistence as part of efforts to reduce escalation and and instability in the region caused by the Israeli 'occupation' forces.
He affirmed the GCC's 'firm' support for the 'Palestinian cause' and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
