Water minister, USAID official discuss join cooperation
Minister of Water and Irrigation Muhammad Najjar on Friday discussed with Isobel Coleman, Deputy Administrator for Policy and Programming at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), prospects for closer cooperation between the agency and the ministry to address water challenges.
According to a USAID statement, Coleman visited a number of water facilities as part of her current visit to the Kingdom. She stressed that the Jordanian and US governments are committed to addressing climate change as a priority.
During her serveral-day visit, the USAID official also met with Syrian refugees and looked firsthand at their living conditions.
In 2021, USAID extended a total of $72.8 million to the World Food Program to finance its refugee-targeting food assistance programs in Jordan.
