King, Antigua and Barbuda PM discuss expanding ties
AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II Monday received Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, and an accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, held at Al Husseiniyeh Palace, they discussed scopes of expanding bilateral cooperation after Jordan and Antigua and Barbuda last month signed a statement establishing diplomatic relations between them.
The King said he appreciated the Caribbean nation's support for Jordan's candidacy to the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Executive Council in elections due to be held next month.
He also expressed Jordan's sympathy over the victims of Hurricane Irma, which recently struck Antigua and Barbuda and other Caribbean nations.
Also at the meeting, which was attended by the Royal Court Chief and the Foreign Ministers of the two countries, they discussed political developments in the Middle East and the global fight against terrorism.
