Jordan prevents Syrian cars from moving in the Kingdom
AMMONNEWS - Majed Dabbas - Interior Ministry have recently decided to ban vehicles with Syrian licence plates from moving within the Kingdom without re-entering permission, official told Ammon News on Saturday.
The owners of cars with Syrian plates should leave the country and re-enter through official crossing points to renew their entering permission.
The ministry ordered the Customs Department in Amman to ban any Syrian car from entering the country, if the car owners do not have re-entering document.
Also, the ministry prohibited the Syrian cars, which are in violation of the law, from moving within Jordan's territories.
According to the official, there are over 1.2 million cars in Jordan, 35,000 of it with Syrian licence plate.
Around 1.3 million Syrians currently reside in the Kingdom, over half-a-million of whom are refugees who displaced to Jordan after the Syrian conflict erupted in April, 2011. Over 70 per cent of the refugees live among host communities in Jordan.
