Tax collections at JD1.33bln in Q1 of 2022, up 8pct
Incomes and sales taxes collections soared to JD1.334 billion in the first three months of 2022, up by JD98 million or 8 percent from the JD1.246 billion reported in the same period of 2021, according to official data.
Director-General of the Income and Sales Taxes Department Hussam Abu Ali said the rise in tax collections is propelled by post-Covid recovery and the full reopening of the economy. He explained that income tax collections surged to JD346 million in the January-March period against JD277 million in the same period of 2021.
Similarly, sales tax collections increased by 3 percent to JD998 million compared with JD968 million in the corresponding period of 2021.
