The envoy underlined that the Korean government will continue to support the WFP's activities to support refugees in Jordan, noting that its contribution comes is part of a plan to help Jordan respond to the Syrian crisis following the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, Mendes said: 'We are grateful for the long-term support of the Republic of Korea at a time when families have increasingly become unable to meet their own needs, and rely more on food aid provided by the program.'
In light of the increasing needs following the pandemic, he added, the Korean government's financial assistance will enhance the capacity of the WFP to meet the food needs of refugees in Jordan through innovative ways to provide monthly aid.
