Foreign Ministry contacts families of Jordanians died and injured in road accident in Saudi Arabia
Amman (Petra) The Foreign Ministry said it has contacted families of the Jordanians who died and injured in a road accident in Saudi Arabia on Thursday. The Ministry said 'it is coordinating with the Jordanian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah to bring home the bodies of the victims and the injured to Jordan'. Earlier, His Majesty King Abdullah directed the government to take all measures necessary to bring home the bodies of Jordanians who died after the vehicle overturned in Saudi Arabia in an area near Mecca.
The Jordanians were in Saudi Arabia to perform Umra (lesser pilgrimage).
The King also directed the government to bring home those who were injured in the accident to be treated at Jordanian hospitals, provided that their condition allows their transfer at this stage.
More than 50 Jordanian pilgrims were onboard the vehicle going from Mecca to Madinah when the accident occurred.
