Ammon News - The Public Security Directorate (PSD) mourned the martyrdom of Corporal Jawad Ali Khalaf Salayta, who was killed in a cowardly terrorist attack while performing his official duties in the capital, Amman. Another officer was also injured.

The PSD spokesperson provided details of the terrorist attack, confirming that at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, an individual suddenly attacked a Public Security officer on Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Street in Amman, stabbing him with a sharp object.

A patrol immediately intervened, with its crew confronting the assailant, bringing the situation under control and arresting him.

The spokesperson added that the patrol's commanding officer sustained facial injuries during the confrontation with the attacker.

The martyred officer was rushed to hospital but shortly succumbed to his injuries. The injured officer was also taken to hospital for treatment and remains in stable condition.

Security agencies have launched an investigation into the attacker. Preliminary investigations indicate that he had intended and planned to carry out the terrorist attack against Public Security personnel.
