Ammon News - Google may soon allow users to use Gemini Live without an internet connection. This could be a useful feature for Android users who want to talk to Google’s AI assistant even when mobile data or Wi-Fi is unavailable.

According to Android Authority, a teardown of the Google app version 17.71.17 for Android has revealed two lines of code mentioning an offline mode for Gemini Live. One of them says users will be able to use Gemini Live without an internet connection. But will it work as well as the regular online version?

Gemini Live allows users to have natural conversations with AI using their voice. It can understand questions and reply quickly. Users can also share their phone’s camera and screen during conversations.

However, running all these features without the internet could be difficult. The offline version may be slower and may not provide answers as accurate as the online version.

Google could use its Gemini Nano AI model to make this feature work. Gemini Nano runs directly on supported Android phones and can handle simple tasks without an internet connection.

However, some advanced features, such as camera and screen sharing, may not be available in offline mode. Google has been regularly adding new features to Gemini Live, including Guided Vision and live translation.

For now, Google has not officially announced the offline mode. Details about its features and performance are also unknown. Stay tuned for more information.
