Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Rakan Qadah - A 24 year old man on late Monday night shot and killed his mother and sister in Ma'an governorate, southern Jordan, a security source told 'Ammon News.'

The source added that police rushed to the crime scene and found the bodies of the mother, in her 40's, and her daughter, 17 years old, laying dead after sustaining gunshot wounds.

Initial investigation revealed that the mother's son had shot her and his sister before fleeing the scene.

Police arrested the man shortly afternoon on Tuesday in Ma'an and seized the firearm used in the crime.

Security sources did not reveal the cause that led the young man to shoot his mother and sister.

The source added that a special inquiry team has been formed to investigate the details of the crime.

The bodies of the mother and her daughter were transferred to the Southern Center for Forensic Medicine for a post-mortem.

Ammon News learned from security sources that the young man's father is a felon convicted of murdering members of his in-laws family.

Meanwhile, Public Security Directorate (PSD) also arrested a man suspected of killing a post office employee in Ruseifah.

The employee was found dead in his office after sustaining a bullet to the head.

Security cadres also launched an investigation into the incident.
