Ammon News - The Eastern Military Zone thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using guided balloons early Tuesday, after detecting them as they attempted to cross the border into Jordanian territory.

Border Guard units detected and intercepted the balloons within their area of responsibility and brought them down inside Jordanian territory. The narcotics they were carrying were seized in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.

The seized items were referred to the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal action.

The Jordan Armed Forces reaffirmed the readiness of its Border Guard units to confront all infiltration and smuggling attempts efficiently and competently to protect the country's security and stability.
