Ammon News - The value of bounced checks in Jordan reached approximately JD 114.7 million in August 2026, up from JD 88.3 million in July, accounting for 3.01% of the total value of checks processed during August, according to statistics released by the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC).
The total number of bounced checks during August stood at approximately 16,000 checks, compared with 13,800 checks in July. Bounced checks represented 2.9% of the total number of checks circulated during the month.
According to the data, 9,969 checks were returned for financial reasons, representing 62.1% of all bounced checks, while 6,078 checks were returned for technical reasons, accounting for 37.9%.
In terms of value, checks returned for financial reasons totaled approximately JD 65.2 million, representing 56.8% of the total value of bounced checks, while checks returned for technical reasons amounted to JD 49.5 million, or 43.2%.
Meanwhile, the number of circulated checks increased to approximately 556,000 checks in August, compared with 489,000 checks in July, marking a 13.7% monthly increase.
The total value of circulated checks also rose to approximately JD 3.81 billion in August, compared with JD 3.66 billion in July and JD 3.48 billion in June, recording a 4% increase compared with the previous month.
Since the beginning of the year through the end of August, the electronic check clearing system processed approximately 4 million transactions, with a total value of JD 27.2 billion, according to JoPACC data.
