30-08-2026 02:36 PM

Ammon News - Syrian Arab Republic was picked to be the guest of honor at the 25th Amman International Book Fair 2026, which will be held from September 24 to October 3 at Jordan International Exhibition Center at Mecca Mall.

According to a statement released by Ministry of Culture on Sunday, Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh said this decision reflects the "depth" of brotherly Jordanian-Syrian cultural and historical relations.

Rawashdeh added that the move also underscores the importance of culture and books in strengthening communication and exchange of knowledge and creativity among Arab peoples.

On its significance, he stated the Syrian participation represents an opportunity to celebrate the Syrian cultural scene and its literary, intellectual, and artistic heritage, and allow the fair's audience to explore Syrian publications and creative works.

He noted that this step comes within the context of the growing cultural exchange between Jordan and Syria, particularly following his meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Mohammed Yassin Saleh, on the sidelines of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts.

During that meeting, he said the two sides called for strengthening cultural cooperation and developing mutual cultural agreements.

Rawashdeh affirmed the fair continues to consolidate its position as an Arab platform for books, knowledge, and dialogue, adding that Syria’s presence as guest of honor adds to its cultural program and boosts its message in expanding the spaces of Arab cultural exchange.
