25-07-2026 03:45 PM

Ammon News - Finance Minister Abdul Hakim Shibli chaired a meeting on Saturday at the General Budget Department, where he was briefed on procedures taken in drafting the General Budget bill for the fiscal year 2027.

The meeting underscores the government’s keenness to complete the general budget bill on schedule, ensuring that it is referred to parliament on the constitutional date and passed before the start of the next fiscal year.

The passage of the draft budget law on due time allows ministries and government units to directly carry out capital and development projects from the start of next year, which will impact implementation, improve services to the public, and support economic activity, said officials.

Shibli urged drafting the general budget law in line with the government’s priorities and development programs, the vision of economic modernization, the national program for financial and economic reform, and the road map for modernizing the public sector.

He stressed the need to enhance the efficiency of public spending, and control and rationalize expenditures to maintain financial sustainability, enhance financial and economic stability, and direct financial resources towards priority projects and programs.

The minister directed that efforts be stepped up to review spending items and enhance the efficiency of use of resources in preparing budget estimates within specified financial ceilings, ensuring a realistic and implementable budget that responds to national priorities, while maintaining financial discipline and the sustainability of public finances.

General Budget Department Director Ayman Abu Al-Rub reviewed progress of work in drafting the general budget bill and measures taken to ensure its completion according to the set timetable, stressing coordination with various ministries and government units.
