Private-sector deposits in banks rise to JD46.3 billion by end of May

Ammon News - The total private-sector deposits held in Jordanian banks reached JD 46.342 billion by the end of May 2026, marking a 2.1% increase, according to Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ).

The data, which reviewed by "Ammon News" showe that resident private-sector deposits totaled JD 39.444 billion, up 2.9%, while non-resident private-sector deposits stood at JD 6.898 billion, down 2.5%.

Deposits by other financial corporations reached JD 805.2 million, recording a 10.4% increase.

Meanwhile, total public-sector deposits amounted to JD 3.865 billion, down 5% during the same period. Deposits held by the central government rose 8.4% to JD 1.773 billion.

Municipal deposits fell 16.9% to JD 10.8 million, while deposits of non-financial public companies increased 8.6% to JD 457.4 million. Deposits held by the Social Security Corporation stood at JD 1.624 billion, declining 10.5%.

Overall, total deposits by both the private and public sectors in Jordanian banks reached JD 51.012 billion in May 2026, reflecting a 2.0% annual increase.
