Ammon News - A total of 1,305,454 visits were recorded at Jordan’s tourist sites during the first half of this year, with the majority directed to Petra, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The figures, cited by Al-Mamlaka TV, showed that 48% of visits were made by Jordanians, 47% by foreign visitors, and 5% by Arab tourists.
Petra alone attracted 235,157 visits during the period.
Visits were distributed across several tourist attractions, including Ajloun Castle, Mount Nebo, Wadi Rum, Jerash, the Archaeological Museum, Madaba Church, and other heritage and tourism sites.
Looking back, total visits to tourist sites reached 2,610,732 in 2024, while 2023 — a record year for Jordan’s tourism sector — saw 6,008,026 visits.
The ministry noted that the figures include repeat visits by both international and domestic tourists to various tourist destinations.
Jordan’s tourism sector posted a strong performance in 2025, with the number of visitors rising to 7.04 million, while tourism revenue increased by 7.6% to JOD 5.523 billion.
