Ammon News - The Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced that the Jordan International Search and Rescue Team has returned home after completing a humanitarian mission in Venezuela, launched under Royal directives to support relief efforts following the devastating earthquake that struck Caracas and surrounding areas.
The team returned aboard a Qatari Emiri Air Force (QEAF) C-17 military transport aircraft. The airlift was coordinated with the Qatari military attaché in Amman as part of Jordanian-Qatari cooperation in supporting humanitarian and disaster relief operations.
According to the PSD, the team, comprising highly trained search and rescue specialists and a medical unit from the Royal Medical Services, carried out intensive rescue operations in the areas hardest hit by the earthquake using advanced equipment and specialized technologies.
During the mission, the team rescued a child alive from beneath the rubble, recovered the bodies of 35 victims, and provided technical and humanitarian support alongside Venezuelan rescue teams and international response agencies, helping strengthen emergency operations and mitigate the disaster's impact.
The PSD said Venezuela's interim president honored the Jordan International Search and Rescue Team in recognition of its exceptional humanitarian efforts and outstanding contribution to search and rescue operations, praising its professionalism, rapid response, discipline, and adherence to the highest international standards.
The PSD said the mission reflects the team's advanced operational capabilities, extensive expertise, and high state of readiness, which have enabled it to undertake complex rescue missions in diverse environments while reinforcing its international standing among the world's leading classified search and rescue teams.
