Ammon News - The Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) and the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) signed an agreement to establish a strategic investment partnership, leading to the creation of the Jordanian-Omani Investment Company with a capital of 38.5 million Omani rials (around $100 million), equally funded by both sides.
According to a statement issued by the fund on Wednesday, the partnership is designed to support joint investments between Jordan and Oman by targeting promising sectors, including telecommunications and information technology, agriculture and food, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, energy, mining, tourism, and logistics. The initiative aims to strengthen economic cooperation and create added value for both economies.
Ezzedine Kanakrieh, Chairman of the SSIF, said the agreement marks an important step in expanding Jordan’s investment reach regionally and internationally. He noted that the partnership reflects efforts to establish long-term investment cooperation based on expertise and capital directed toward projects with economic and development potential.
Kanakrieh added that the establishment of the joint company reflects a shared vision between Jordan and Oman to invest in priority sectors and enhance cooperation between investment institutions in both countries, contributing to economic growth and supporting productive projects.
Deputy President of the Oman Investment Authority Mulham Basheer Al Jarf said the partnership builds on the longstanding relations between Jordan and Oman and reflects the two countries’ interest in expanding economic cooperation and directing investments toward promising sectors.
The newly established company will provide a platform for joint investments, support businesses, and help create growth opportunities by utilizing the economic strengths and competitive advantages of Jordan and Oman in various sectors.
The partnership is part of efforts by both countries to deepen economic ties, increase investment exchange, promote knowledge transfer, and support sustainable economic development.
