Ammon News - The Fuel Pricing Committee held its regular meeting on Tuesday to announce fuel prices effective from July 1.
The committee reviewed petroleum product prices during June and compared them with those of May. The review showed a relative decline in global prices; however, the decrease was not sufficient to return prices to the levels seen before the regional crisis.
Accordingly, the committee decided to keep the prices of major petroleum products unchanged for July at the same levels adopted in June:
Octane 90 gasoline: 1,000 fils per liter
Octane 95 gasoline: 1,310 fils per liter
Diesel: 850 fils per liter
Kerosene: 550 fils per liter
The committee also decided to maintain the price of a 12.5 kg household gas cylinder at JD7, while continuing support for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplied to the industrial sector.
It noted that continuing this support will cost the government an estimated JD3.2 million during July.
The committee further stated that local fuel prices in recent months have not reflected actual costs, as the government adopted a gradual approach to passing on global price increases and absorbed a significant portion of the difference. Total government support and price-gap coverage since the beginning of the crisis through the end of June amounted to approximately 198 million Jordanian dinars, excluding the cost of subsidizing household gas cylinders.
