Ammon News - 2Jordan and Japan have agreed to allocate JD169,342 from the Jordan-Japan Counterpart Fund to finance a small-scale water harvesting infrastructure project in Wadi Araba, Aqaba, for the benefit of the Jordan Valley Authority, according to the Ministry of Planning.
The project aims to help farmers and livestock breeders adapt to the impacts of climate change by improving rainwater harvesting techniques and increasing the collection of rainfall for use in the area, which is affected by water scarcity. This is expected to support local water availability and strengthen livelihoods in rural communities through more sustainable water management practices.
The Jordan-Japan Counterpart Fund was established in 1997 to finance projects supporting economic and social development activities in agriculture, as well as efforts to increase food production in the Kingdom.
