Ammon News - Crowds of Jordanian fans flocked from the early hours of Tuesday morning to designated platforms, squares, and stands to watch the national football team face its Algerian counterpart, as part of the second round of Group 10 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals. The scene reflected a strong national display of public support for Al-Nashama in their historic first-ever World Cup appearance.
The match is scheduled for 6:00 a.m. Jordan time at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in the United States. It is an Arab encounter carrying significant importance for both teams in their race to qualify for the next round.
The Ministry of Youth, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Ministry of Government Communication, the Jordan Tourism Board, the Greater Amman Municipality, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, as well as municipalities and local institutions, continues organizing public fan events to broadcast the national team’s matches live across multiple locations in the Kingdom.
Viewing sites in Amman and other governorates witnessed early arrivals of fans, with parts of stands and public squares filling before kickoff. Supporters wore red and raised Jordanian flags to back the national team in its crucial match against Algeria.
In the capital Amman, preparations continued to receive crowds at the Roman Theater, Hashemite Plaza, and Odeon Theater, where gates opened two hours before kickoff. Viewing areas were provided along with crowd management measures to ensure smooth entry and exit in line with expected turnout.
In Jerash Governorate, the ancient city is hosting a fan event to watch the match via three giant screens distributed across the Northern Theater, Southern Theater, and the Oval Plaza. The event aims to create a national atmosphere supporting the team while highlighting Jordan’s archaeological and tourism sites.
The match is also being broadcast at Al-Hussein Youth City “Gymnasium Hall” in Irbid, Prince Faisal Sports City in Karak, and more than 60 youth centers across the Kingdom, allowing the widest possible audience to follow the game and support the national team.
In Petra, the cultural village is hosting a fan event for watching the national team’s matches at a venue that accommodates around 5,000 people, as part of efforts to provide interactive experiences for fans and visitors during Jordan’s World Cup participation.
These events follow the strong public turnout previously seen at the Roman Theater, which reflected widespread popular support for the national team in its first-ever World Cup appearance.
Al-Nashama enter the match seeking a positive result after losing to Austria in the first round, while Algeria aims to recover from its loss to Argentina. This adds greater importance to the encounter in Group 10, which also includes Argentina and Austria.
The Public Security Directorate urged fans attending viewing events at the Roman Theater, Hashemite Plaza, Odeon Theater, and other designated locations to comply with organizational and security instructions to ensure safety and smooth movement.
It confirmed that gates were opened well before kickoff and called on fans to arrive early and cooperate with security personnel and organizers, and to adhere to designated areas for families, media, and persons with disabilities.
It also stressed the importance of keeping entrances, exits, and walkways clear, avoiding overcrowding in unauthorized areas, and adhering to venue capacity limits. Crowd flow will be managed according to the approved plan, directing spectators to alternative viewing areas when necessary in coordination with organizers.
The Directorate further urged the public not to bring items that could affect safety or damage the historical sites, in order to preserve both public safety and the cleanliness and integrity of these heritage locations.
Jordanian House Events
Outside the Kingdom, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board continued supporting accompanying events for the national team’s participation by organizing the "Jordanian House 2026" in San Jose, California, on June 21–22, in cooperation with the Nashama Fans Association in the United States and several partners and supporters.
The "Jordanian House" aims to provide a unifying space for the Jordanian diaspora and Arab fans, while showcasing Jordanian national identity and heritage through cultural, artistic, and entertainment programs, including dabke performances, folk shows, musical evenings, and fan competitions, alongside match screenings in a national atmosphere.
Organizers urged fans to arrive early, follow instructions, and wear red, matching the national team’s kit, so that red becomes a unifying color expressing pride and belonging.
Group 10 includes Jordan, Algeria, Argentina, and Austria. The second round also features a match between Argentina and Austria, which may directly impact the group standings and qualification scenarios.
The national team will conclude its group stage campaign against Argentina on June 28 at 5:00 a.m. Jordan time at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA.
