24-05-2026 01:23 PM

Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, said that Jordanian-Venezuelan relations extend back more than 70 years, emphasizing that there are significant opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in ways that would positively benefit both sides.

Safadi added that he held extensive talks on Sunday with his Venezuelan counterpart, Yván Gil, focusing on practical steps aimed at elevating bilateral relations to broader horizons of cooperation.

He pointed to the signing of four agreements and memoranda of understanding covering cooperation in the agricultural sector, the launch of periodic political consultations between the two countries, cooperation between the diplomatic institutes of both nations, and a framework agreement to establish a joint economic cooperation committee.

Safadi explained that both sides are also working on agreements related to preventing double taxation, investment protection, and visa exemptions, with the aim of creating a supportive environment for expanding cooperation in agriculture, energy, investment, culture, and information technology.

Efforts are underway to establish a joint cooperation council involving the private sectors of both countries to strengthen economic and investment partnerships, Safadi confirmed.

The visit marks a starting point for greater cooperation between the two nations, noting that there is strong political will to enhance bilateral ties, the minister said.

He stressed that both countries have many opportunities that can lead to shared achievements.

Safadi also praised Venezuela’s support for the two-state solution, while the two ministers discussed ongoing efforts to restore security and stability in the region.

He noted that the talks emphasized the need for collective efforts to ensure the success of these initiatives and to restore regional security and stability.
