Ammon News - While real-time translation on Android and iOS typically only works when using headphones or earbuds, Google appears poised to change this soon.
Google is reportedly exploring an option that will allow users to listen to real-time translations without headphones.
Instead, users will be able to listen to the translated text by simply holding their phone's speaker to their ear, according to a report by Android Authority, a technology news site.
This feature is being tested in version 10.18.45.917270523.4 of the Google Translate app for Android and is not yet officially available.
With this feature, Google will add a new "Listening mode" option that will activate when the phone is held close to the ear.
The translation result will remain the same whether the user uses the phone's internal speaker or external earbuds.
This feature is particularly important for people who do not want to use earbuds for real-time translation or who cannot use them for medical reasons.
It is not yet clear when Google is expected to release its instant translation feature without headphones.
