Ammon News - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing, in cooperation with the Traffic Department, announced the start of dismantling and removing the old concrete pedestrian bridge located on the Amman–Salt Road opposite Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Balqa Governorate.

In a statement, the ministry indicated that the removal works require a temporary closure of traffic in both directions from 10:00 PM on Friday until 7:00 AM on Saturday, May 22, 2026, in line with fieldwork requirements.

Traffic heading toward Amman will be diverted from the Licensing Signal to Ain Al-Basha Signal, while traffic heading toward Salt will be diverted from Ain Al-Basha Signal to the Licensing Signal, according to the approved traffic plan.

The ministry confirmed that all directional signs and public safety measures have been provided to ensure smooth traffic flow, renewing its call on drivers to follow safe driving rules and comply with instructions from field crews and security personnel to ensure everyone’s safety.

The measure comes after the ministry completed construction of a new 53-meter pedestrian bridge, representing a modern model designed to meet pedestrians’ needs on both sides of the road. The bridge is equipped with advanced features, including an electric elevator dedicated to serving the elderly and people with disabilities — a model the ministry intends to adopt in future pedestrian bridge projects.
