Dusty, moderate conditions are continuing across Kingdom on Tuesday

19-05-2026 08:04 AM

Ammon News - Dusty and moderate conditions are continuing across the country on Tuesday, before a cooler and relatively humid air mass is expected to bring a noticeable drop in temperatures on Thursday, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.

Temperatures today are hovering around seasonal averages, with dusty and moderate weather prevailing across most regions, while relatively hot conditions persist in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Medium- and high-level clouds are appearing intermittently, accompanied by northwesterly winds ranging from moderate to active, with occasional strong gusts.

The Meteorological Department warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to dust in several regions, particularly on desert roads where visibility could deteriorate significantly. It also urged people with respiratory conditions to take necessary precautions.

Similar conditions are expected on Wednesday, with moderate weather continuing across most regions and relatively hot conditions persisting in low-lying areas. Medium- and high-level clouds will remain present, while westerly winds are forecast to strengthen during the afternoon, accompanied by strong gusts that may trigger blowing dust, particularly in Badia regions.

A more noticeable weather shift is forecast on Thursday as a mild and relatively humid air mass moves across the country, driving temperatures lower. Pleasant conditions are expected across most regions, while moderate weather prevails in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

Low clouds are forecast, with a chance of scattered light showers during the early morning hours in northern areas and limited parts of central regions. Westerly winds will range from moderate to active and may continue raising dust at times in exposed desert areas.

Conditions are expected to stabilize again on Friday, with temperatures edging slightly higher and moderate weather prevailing across most regions, while relatively hot conditions continue in low-lying areas. Northwesterly winds will remain moderate.

Temperature ranges on Tuesday reflect the prevailing pattern, with East Amman forecast between 28 C and 16 C, and West Amman between 26 C and 14 C. Northern highlands will record 22 C to 13 C, while the Sharah highlands range between 24 C and 14 C.

In the Badia, temperatures are expected between 32 C and 17 C, and in the plains between 27 C and 16 C. The northern Jordan Valley is forecast at 34 C to 18 C, rising to 36 C to 21 C in the southern valley. The Dead Sea will record 35 C to 20 C, while Aqaba reaches 36 C to 22 C. Petra
