Ammon News - Director of Health in Irbid Governorate, Dr. Shadi Bani Hani, confirmed that the directorate took immediate precautionary measures after receiving reports of illness symptoms among 48 students at a school, including abdominal pain, fever, and diarrhea.
Bani Hani explained that he is currently at the school and that initial indicators point to a possible food poisoning case, noting that no students have been transferred to the hospital so far.
He added that health directorate teams will continue monitoring the students’ conditions over the next 24 hours to detect any health developments that may require hospitalization depending on the severity and progression of symptoms.
He also said there is direct coordination with the Jordan Food and Drug Administration to immediately collect samples from the school canteen, nearby kiosks, and water sources to ensure their safety as a precautionary measure while awaiting laboratory test results to determine the main cause of the cases.
Bani Hani reassured the public that the situation is stable and does not call for panic or concern, stressing that the Health Directorate is closely following up on the cases and will remain in direct contact with students and their families to check on their health and safety.
