Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said the region is facing major challenges and that the trilateral summit between Jordan, Cyprus, and Greece provided an opportunity for leaders to discuss the regional situation.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Greek and Cypriot counterparts following the fifth Jordan-Cyprus-Greece trilateral summit, Safadi said the leaders agreed on the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to maritime navigation.
He added that the leaders stressed the importance of supporting the sovereignty of the Lebanese government.
Safadi said that King Abdullah II values the positions of the Cypriot and Greek presidents regarding stability in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
He explained that the Palestinian issue topped the leaders’ discussions, emphasizing the need to work on the basis of a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Safadi added that the leaders stressed the need to implement President Trump’s plans and UN Security Council resolutions regarding the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
