Jordan Post warns against identity theft, clarifies official SMS communication standards

03-05-2026 09:31 AM

Ammon News - Jordan Post has issued a high-level security alert to the public, detailing the specific protocols used in its official communications to help citizens identify a rising wave of sophisticated phishing scams. Anas Abu Al-Sundus, Director of Information Technology at Jordan Post, clarified that legitimate notifications from the company are strictly distributed via standard SMS under the sender name "Jordan Post" and categorically do not feature logos, media attachments, or embedded payment links.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Abu Al-Sundus noted that the most prevalent fraudulent activity involves emails that hijack the company's official branding to claim that a shipment is pending due to missing address details. These deceptive messages often redirect users to malicious websites designed to harvest banking information or personal data. He emphasized that Jordan Post never requests sensitive financial details through text or email, nor does it facilitate direct payments via web links.

The company underscored that its digital presence is limited to the official websites www.jordanpost.com.jo and www.myjobox.jo, alongside its verified mobile applications, Jo-Post and Bareed Cash. Furthermore, all financial transactions for delivery fees are processed exclusively through the "eFAWATEERcom" platform or via cash on delivery. Any communication demanding payment through other digital channels is a confirmed attempt at fraud.

In response to these threats, Jordan Post has coordinated with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, the National Cybersecurity Center, and the Public Security Directorate’s Cybercrime Unit to trace the sources of these attacks. Authorities have urged the public to immediately delete suspicious emails and avoid interacting with any attachments. For shipment verification or to report identity theft, citizens are advised to contact the official Jordan Post call center at 062005777. Petra
