Ammon News - About 1.6 million Syrian refugees have returned to their homeland since the change of power in Syria at the end of 2024, the United Nations data.

German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, citing figures from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, reported that as of April 16, 2026, around 284,000 Syrians had returned from Jordan, 621,000 from Lebanon, and 634,000 from Turkey.

According to the report, Germany is not listed separately in UNHCR data but falls under the category of other countries, which includes around 6,100 returnees.

Data from Germany’s Federal Office for Migration and Refugees issued last February showed that 3,678 Syrian refugees voluntarily returned from Germany to their country during the past year alone.
