Ammon News - The board of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC), chaired by Transport Minister Nidal Qatamin, has approved the launch of three new operational tenders to run 35 public transport routes using a fleet of 108 vehicles across Zarqa, Mafraq, and Jerash.
Under the operational plan, 10 routes will be introduced in Jerash using 27 small and medium-sized vehicles, while Zarqa will see the rollout of 7 routes served by 50 small passenger vehicles. In Mafraq, 18 routes will be operated through 31 small and medium transport vehicles, reflecting a flexible approach tailored to demand and the unique needs of each governorate.
The decision is based on field studies identifying high-demand routes and prioritizing connections between residential areas and key hubs such as hospitals, schools, and transit centers. The aim is to ensure fair service distribution, improve accessibility, and bridge gaps in underserved areas.
The LTRC stated that the expansion responds directly to growing demand for organized public transport services, offering a more reliable and efficient option for commuters.
It is expected that the move to positively impact economic and social activity by easing access to workplaces, education, and essential services ultimately improving quality of life and supporting stability in the targeted regions.
