Ammon News - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has begun implementing the modern lighting project for the Amman Development Corridor, following the completion of all technical and contractual procedures and the final awarding of the tender, at a total cost of JD1.4 million.
The project extends over 42 km, with technical teams starting to supply and install high-efficiency LED lighting units powered entirely by solar energy. The lighting will cover the entire corridor, with top priority given to key intersections, entrances and exits, and high-traffic sections to ensure the highest standards of road safety and nighttime visibility in line with approved international specifications.
The project relies on smart lighting technologies featuring an advanced automated control system that adjusts lighting intensity based on traffic density and nighttime hours. The system also enables remote monitoring of poles and batteries to ensure operational sustainability and rapid maintenance.
The importance of using solar energy lies in providing full independence from the conventional power grid, eliminating issues related to power outages or cable vandalism. It also ensures sufficient energy storage to operate efficiently even in cloudy weather, supporting the Ministry’s vision for transitioning toward green and smart infrastructure.
