Ammon News - The Lower House on Wednesday approved by majority vote recommendations of the Parliamentary Finance Committee on the annual report of the Audit Bureau for 2024 during a session attended by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and cabinet ministers.
The audit findings included 13 audit findings that raised suspicions of corruption and required further investigation and evidence gathering, which were referred to the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Regarding 45 findings on the disbursement of bonuses, incentives, or overtime pay to employees, or exceeding the allowance ceilings in violation of the governing legislation, it was decided to take action to recover the funds.
It also agreed to recover financial amounts from 41 audit findings related to contracts, financial obligations, or outstanding debts owed by various entities.
The committee agreed to refer all observations from the Finance Committee contained in the report concerning entities subject to the Audit Bureau's oversight to the government.
MPs were unanimous on the need to protect citizens from any new price increases that burden them, given the exceptional circumstances the Kingdom and the entire region are going through, which necessitate unity and support for the state.
At the outset of the session, Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi congratulated His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and the Jordan Armed Forces - Arab Army, and the security bodies on the 58th anniversary of the Al Karamah Battle.
He said Jordanians recall with pride and honor at a pivotal moment in the history of their nation as the Al Karamah Battle proved Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership and with its loyal people and brave army, is capable of victory and preserving dignity.
Jordan steadily progresses with greater strength and resilience and will continue to honor the sacrifices of its martyrs who paid their lives in defense of the country, he said.
