Ammon News - The Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson announced that over the past few days, a series of extensive security campaigns and targeted raids were carried out against drug dealers, promoters, and smugglers across the Kingdom. These operations are part of the ongoing daily efforts by the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) to combat all forms of illegal drug activity.
The spokesperson confirmed that 13 cases and security campaigns were handled, resulting in the arrest of 23 individuals and the seizure of large quantities of narcotics.
In the most prominent of these cases within the Central Badia region, specifically in Azraq District, two drug smugglers were arrested after authorities confirmed they were in possession of a large quantity of narcotic pills. During interrogation, the suspects admitted to hiding 100,000 pills in a remote desert area. Acting on their information, authorities recovered the drugs.
In Mafraq Governorate, following surveillance and intelligence gathering, authorities raided a suspect linked to regional smuggling networks. He was found using a farm to store and distribute narcotics. He was arrested, and authorities seized 3 kilograms of crystal meth, 90 hashish slabs, and 3,000 narcotic pills.
In a separate case in Mafraq, three suspects involved in drug trafficking were arrested, with 78,000 narcotic pills found in their possession.
At Al-Omari Border Crossing, AND personnel, in coordination with security agencies and Jordan Customs, foiled an attempt by two individuals to smuggle 20,000 narcotic pills hidden inside luggage.
In Balqa Governorate, a drug dealer was raided and arrested after resisting arrest and opening fire at security forces. He was subdued without significant injuries, and a firearm along with narcotics was confiscated.
In Aqaba, a dealer was arrested with three hashish slabs, while in Ramtha District, two dealers were apprehended with 3,000 pills and two slabs of hashish.
In eastern Amman, a security campaign led to the arrest of six drug dealers, with one found in possession of 20 hashish slabs, 1,000 narcotic pills, and firearms.
In southern Amman, five cases were handled: In the first, a dealer was arrested with 8,000 narcotic pills, in the second, a promoter was caught with half a kilogram of crystal meth and additional pills, in the third, 2 kilograms of marijuana were seized, in the fourth, another promoter was arrested with half a kilogram of crystal meth, and in the final case, five hashish slabs were confiscated from a suspect.
