Inbound remittances rise 11.9% to $373.6 million in January

Ammon News - Preliminary data released by the Central Bank of Jordan showed that expatriates' remittances to Jordan rose 11.9 percent in January to $373.6 million, while outbound remittances increased 13.3 percent to $152.8 million.

The data showed that remittance inflows from the UAE ranked first, accounting for 22.6 percent of the total, followed by Saudi Arabia at 19.6 percent, the United States at 17.3 percent, and Qatar at 9.1 percent. Other countries accounted for 31.4 percent of total inbound remittances.

As for outbound remittances, Egypt remained the main destination with 38.2 percent of the total, followed by Bangladesh at 13.8 percent and the Philippines at 5.1 percent. Other countries accounted for 42.9 percent of total outbound remittances.
