Ammon News - The Public Security Directorate spokesperson said that a unit from the Anti-Narcotics Department unit carried out a security raid early this morning targeting a high-risk suspect involved in drug-related cases in eastern areas of the capital.
According to the spokesperson, the suspect opened fire directly at the force upon their arrival, resulting in the deaths of First Lieutenant Murad Masoud Al-Mawajdeh, Sergeant Khaldoun Ahmad Al-Raqab, and Corporal Sobhi Mohammad Dweikat.
A fourth non-commissioned officer was also injured during the incident and was transferred to hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The spokesperson added that the force responded in kind to the suspect’s gunfire, eventually gaining control of the situation and arresting him. Authorities seized three firearms in his possession, along with quantities of narcotic pills, three blocks of hashish, and amounts of crystal meth and marijuana.
The Public Security Directorate mourned the three officers, praying for God’s mercy upon them and extending condolences to their families and colleagues, while wishing the injured officer a speedy recovery.
It reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out its duty to maintain security and public order, and to pursuing anyone who seeks to undermine it or engage in the trafficking and distribution of narcotics within the community.
