Goldfish earns Guinness World Record for driving

15-03-2026 01:33 PM

Ammon News - A goldfish recently earned a Guinness World Record — for driving.

Blub, the Italian fish, took home the title for the greatest distance covered in a motion-sensing vehicle by a goldfish in one minute thanks to his owner, who is an engineer.

An engineer created this vehicle so his pet fish could drive.

Thomas de Wolf of the Netherlands crafted a four-wheeled vehicle that holds a water tank and is directed by the movements of the goldfish, who was able to travel a total of 40 feet and 3.46 inches to break the record.

The four-wheeler is complete with a motion-sensing camera, so when the fish moves to one side of its tank, the car also moves in that same direction.

“Normally my job is quite monotonous, so I wanted to create something that would entertain people, turning my ‘serious’ job into something fun,” de Wolf told the record book.

“The objective is to show people what is possible to achieve with this kind of technology, even when it’s not necessarily something ‘serious.'”

Blub, the Italian fish, earned the Guinness World Record for the greatest distance covered in a motion-sensing vehicle by a goldfish in one minute.

The out-of-the-box thinker set the record with Blub on the Italian TV show that partners with Guinness World Records, “Lo Show dei Record,” in Milan on Jan. 23.

The series’ presenter pointed out that de Wolf’s invention could help humans with physical impairments drive as well.
