Ammon News - The Media Commission Tuesday issued a circular prohibiting the publication of videos or information related to the Kingdom's defence operations without an authorisation, warning of legal action.
In the circular, signed by Director General Bashir Momani, the Commission cited the repercussions of the ongoing armed conflict between external parties in the region and its impact on Jordan, as well as the sensitivity of defence operations carried out by the Jordanian Armed Forces.
The circular referred to instances of unauthorised individuals filming and practicing journalism without a license and publishing or broadcasting misleading and inaccurate information that could harm the security of the Kingdom.
In coordination with the Jordanian Armed Forces and the Public Security Directorate (PSD), the Commission decided to ban the publication of any such materials without authorisation.
The Commission commended licensed media outlets and visiting teams authorised to film by the Commission for their professionalism and sense of national responsibility, praising their role in supporting the state's media message.
It called for continued coordination in media coverage with the Military Media Directorate/Arab Army, the Media and Community Policing Department/Public Security Directorate, as well as other ministries and state institutions through available communication channels.
The Commission discussed partnerships between competent parties in combating legal violations, urging stakeholders to coordinate with it to report any content that contravenes the directive so that appropriate measures can be taken.
