Ammon News - The U.S. Embassy in Jordan announced Monday evening, through its social media accounts, that all personnel at the U.S. Embassy have temporarily departed the Embassy compound due to a threat.
The U.S. Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) also issued a security alert via email concerning the regional situation.
Registered users of the STEP system received a security notification addressing the situation in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
According to the official notice, the following precautionary measures were taken:
Compound evacuation: All U.S. Embassy staff temporarily departed the embassy premises.
The decision was described as part of undisclosed security arrangements.
The alert emphasized that the departure was carried out under a principle of “an abundance of caution.”
The move comes amid ongoing regional developments and rising tensions in the region, prompting heightened precautionary measures to ensure the safety of diplomatic missions.
