Ammon News - Royal Jordanian (RJ) CEO Samer Majali said that whenever any country closes its airspace, the airline suspends its flights to that destination, amid ongoing regional tensions following strikes launched by Israel and the United States against Iran on Saturday.
Majali said in remarks on Sunday morning that Royal Jordanian is committed to ensuring the safety of its passengers, noting that flights to Syria, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar remain suspended due to the closure of those countries’ airspace.
When asked about Jordanians being stranded at airports, Majali confirmed that there are no passengers currently stranded.
He also expressed his appreciation to the government, the Jordan Armed Forces, and the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) for their significant efforts to keep Jordanian airspace open, despite temporary suspensions of air traffic at certain times due to security conditions linked to the U.S. and Israeli military strikes on Iran.
All Royal Jordanian flights departing on Saturday to Europe, the United States, North Africa, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon operated with delays, while return flights from Europe and those destinations arrived back in Jordan on schedule later that evening, Majali added.
He further explained that operations to Iraq, Syria, and several Gulf countries remain suspended as their airspace continues to be closed due to surrounding circumstances, a situation that remains in effect today.
According to Majali, Royal Jordanian flights scheduled for Sunday to Europe, the United States, Egypt, North Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon are operating as planned, with minor delays depending on prevailing conditions. He also confirmed that closures to the previously mentioned countries will remain in place until decisions are made to reopen their airspace.
Regarding diverted flights, Majali stated that no flights were rerouted to alternative destinations, as Jordanian airspace has remained operational.
