The U.S. Embassy in Jordan early Sunday morning issued a security alert to its citizens residing in and present in the Kingdom, urging them to immediately seek shelter in safe locations and remain inside their homes, following reports indicating the presence of missiles, drones, or air-to-air missiles in Jordanian airspace.
In its statement, the embassy confirmed that it is closely monitoring developments and noted that it will continue to provide U.S. citizens with information and security updates as needed.
The embassy also urged citizens to follow official announcements and local media outlets for the latest updates, and to contact airlines directly to check for any possible changes to flights if air travel is affected.
It further stressed the importance of exercising caution, remaining aware of surroundings, and reporting anything unusual, emphasizing the need to call the emergency number (911) in case of immediate danger.
The embassy added that U.S. citizens can contact it through designated emergency phone numbers during and after working hours, and encouraged enrollment in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security alerts and official updates.
