Ammon News - The U.S. Embassy in Jordan has implemented shelter-in-place measures for all its employees until further notice, urging American citizens in the Kingdom to follow the same precautionary steps.
In a security alert, the embassy advised individuals to seek a safe location inside their homes or in another secure building and ensure they have sufficient supplies of food, water, medications, and other essential necessities.
The embassy also called on citizens to avoid demonstrations and large gatherings, remain calm, and stay aware of their surroundings. It further encouraged monitoring local media for breaking developments and being prepared to adjust travel or personal plans if necessary.
Additionally, Americans were advised to keep their mobile phones fully charged and maintain communication with family and friends to inform them of their situation. In cases of immediate danger, individuals were instructed to contact Jordanian police by dialing 911.
The embassy urged U.S. citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive the latest security updates and alerts related to Jordan.
Consular assistance remains available through the U.S. Embassy in Amman, located in the Um Uthaina area, via emergency contact numbers during and after working hours, as well as through the embassy’s official website and the U.S. Department of State.
