Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, praised Jordan’s humanitarian role in addressing health and humanitarian challenges, stressing that the Kingdom represents an example in compassion, resilience and innovation.
Prince Harry, during a tour in which he accompanied the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to a number of events and visits in the Kingdom, said that his participation in the visit was a great honor, praising Jordan’s efforts in supporting the health sector and responding to humanitarian needs.
Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's wife, also participated in the visit, as they are founders of the Archewell charity and supporters of the organization's efforts.
For his part, Ghebreyesus stated that it was a great honour to meet with His Majesty, King Abdullah II of Jordan, and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II during his visit to the Kingdom, which is focused on national and regional health matters.
In a post on X, Ghebreyesus said: "I thanked the King for Jordan’s steadfast commitment to protecting and promoting Health For All in Jordan, including its citizens and more than 3 million refugees mainly from Gaza and Syria.
Adding: "We discussed the strong collaboration between Jordan, WHO and the UN system to strengthen universal health coverage, advance mental health.
He also reiterated WHO 's commitment to continue supporting Jordan's ability to provide humanitarian health relief, including for treating patients evacuated from Gaza for essential care, and to bolster the Jordanian corridor to deliver urgently needed medical supplies to meet the Strip's immense health needs.
