Jordan sees 17.4% increase in European tourist numbers

Ammon News - The number of overnight tourists and one-day visitors from Europe to Jordan reached approximately 87,943 in January 2026, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

The figures showed that overnight tourists accounted for 68,867 visitors, while one-day visitors totaled 19,076, bringing the overall number of European arrivals to 87,943 during the month.

A year-on-year comparison between January 2025 and January 2026 revealed a 17.4% increase in European overnight tourists and one-day visitors. In January 2025, the total number of European tourists stood at around 74,928, including 56,159 overnight tourists and 18,769 same-day visitors.

Earlier, the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) reported a 4.1% increase in tourism revenues in January 2026, reaching $708.5 million, compared with $680.5 million in the same month last year, which had recorded a 22.8% rise. The increase was attributed to a 3.2% growth in the number of tourists, according to preliminary data.

The data also indicated significant growth in tourism revenues from European visitors, which rose by 56.9%, alongside increases from Asian visitors (11.6%), Americans (16.0%), and Arab tourists (3.0%). In contrast, tourism revenues declined from other nationalities by 2.0% and from Jordanian expatriates by 3.0%.

Meanwhile, spending on outbound tourism increased by 6.2% in January 2026, reaching $196.3 million.
