Ammon News - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, on Monday signed a financing agreement of $28 million with Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Murshed, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).

The agreement provides for equipping Princess Basma Hospital, following a previous grant of 70 million US dollars provided by the Fund to support the establishment of the hospital in Irbid Governorate.

Minister Toukan expressed her appreciation for the continuous support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over many years of bilateral relations, affirming that the SFD is a key partner in many of Jordan’s development priorities.

She noted that the project will contribute to improving the quality of healthcare and expanding specialized medical services in northern Jordan, thereby strengthening the capacity of the health sector to meet citizens’ needs.

She added that the initiative is aligned with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, which identifies the enhancement of the health sector as one of its core pillars, through the development of infrastructure and the improvement of healthcare services.

For his part, Al-Murshed underscored that the agreement reflects the strong development cooperation between the two countries and the Fund’s role in financing the establishment and expansion of Princess Basma Hospital.

He highlighted that the project aims to equip a wide range of medical and consultative specialties to deliver integrated healthcare, thereby enhancing the efficiency of health infrastructure and improving access to specialized medical services.
