Ammon News - German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit Jordan on Wednesday as part of a tour that includes Lebanon and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He will be accompanied by his wife, Elke Büdenbender, to assess the current situation and discuss ways to enhance stability and security in the region.
According to the announced program, which Ammon News reviewed, Steinmeier will meet with His Majesty King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
Jordan is a key partner for Germany. Federal President Steinmeier’s most recent exchange with King Abdullah II was during his visit to Berlin in April 2025. In recent years, Jordan has taken in numerous refugees, and it works closely with Germany on the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
The visit's itinerary also includes a tour of the SESAME Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East, where the German president will learn about the center's work and meet with researchers.
Steinmeier will also visit a UNHCR registration center, underscoring Berlin's continued interest in the refugee issue and Jordan's role in hosting them.
The visit will conclude with a tour of the German Jordanian University, including the German Language Center and the Innovation School, and a meeting with students and faculty members.
The visit will also focus on the training of skilled workers and university graduates, as well as on scientific cooperation in the region.
