Ammon News - Parts of the northeastern Badia, including the areas of Azraq and Safawi, witnessed significant wind activity on Saturday, with strong gusts occasionally exceeding 60 kilometers per hour. The conditions triggered sandstorms and caused a sharp decline in horizontal visibility, which at times dropped to near zero.
Dusty conditions also prevailed in the capital, Amman, and several other regions across Jordan, accompanied by active winds that further reduced horizontal visibility, particularly on exposed and external roads.
The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) urged citizens to exercise caution, especially in open areas, and to avoid traveling on roads experiencing severely reduced visibility.
It also called on the public to take maximum precautions during the dusty weather, avoid unnecessary outdoor activity—particularly the elderly and those suffering from respiratory or eye conditions—securely close windows to prevent dust from entering homes, and wear masks when going outside, especially for asthma and allergy sufferers. Residents were additionally advised to increase fluid intake.
Drivers were warned to exercise extreme caution due to poor visibility, maintain safe distances between vehicles, avoid speeding, and remain particularly vigilant on highways and external roads.
