Ammon News - The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the European Union (EU) on Wednesday signed two agreements worth €7 million to enhance access to inclusive and quality education, and to strengthen child protection and psychosocial support services for the most vulnerable children and adolescents in Jordan.

According to a UNICEF statement, the renewed partnership will support learning recovery and skills development for children across the Kingdom, including Syrian refugees, through integrated services delivered via Makani centers.

More than 30,000 children are expected to benefit from safe learning environments and essential services designed to help them remain in education, re-engage in learning, and build future-oriented skills. Makani centers, operating in refugee camps and marginalized communities in remote areas, provide integrated education support, child protection services, skills development programs, and psychosocial support to ensure comprehensive care for children and adolescents.

European Union Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas said the agreements reflect the European Union’s continued commitment to supporting the most vulnerable children in Jordan. "Now, more than ever, it is crucial to invest in the future of Jordan and Syria and to provide the new generation with the support it deserves," he said.

UNICEF Representative to Jordan Marc Rubin said the renewed and expanded partnership with the European Union enables UNICEF and its national partners to deliver critical support to children and adolescents in hard-to-reach areas and vulnerable communities across the Kingdom.

He added that the collaboration strengthens inclusive and protective pathways in line with the Government of Jordan’s commitment to advancing children’s rights.

Through the agreements, the European Union and UNICEF reaffirmed their joint commitment to achieving sustainable and long-term impact for the most vulnerable populations, while advancing the goal of quality education and protection for every child in Jordan.
