Zain Jordan donates JD3 million to connect 1,500 public schools with Wi-Fi

Ammon News - Minister of Education, Azmi Mahafza, met with Zain Jordan’s CEO Fahad Al Jasem, in the presence of Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Smirat, to explore ways to strengthen cooperation in digital transformation within the education sector.

During the meeting, Al Jasem announced that Zain will donate JD3 million to establish a Wi-Fi network across 1,500 public schools.

Mahafza highlighted the vital role of public-private partnerships in advancing the educational process, describing them as a cornerstone for implementing national projects and improving digital infrastructure in schools, noting that such initiatives are expected to have a positive impact on the quality of education and student outcomes.

The minister explained that the support provided by Zain embodies the concept of corporate social responsibility, and confirms the role of the private sector as an active partner in achieving sustainable development, contributing to empowering students and teachers with modern educational tools, and building a generation capable of keeping pace with rapid technological developments.

In addition, Mahafza expressed his appreciation to Zain for this significant initiative, noting that it demonstrates the company’s dedication to social responsibility and its role in nurturing a generation equipped to keep pace with technological developments.

Meanwhile, Minister Sami Smirat highlighted that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship recently signed an agreement with Zain Jordan, valued at JD3 million, to provide Wi-Fi solutions and enhance digital infrastructure in public schools.

The agreement seeks to provide wireless internet access in classrooms across several schools, enabling students and teachers to utilize modern technologies and digital learning tools to keep pace with contemporary educational demands, Smirat added.

Also, Smirat underscored that the initiative is part of a series of collaborative projects between the Ministries of Digital Economy and Education, highlighting the role of digital transformation in advancing the educational process, pointing out that the project is crucial for enhancing students’ digital skills, fostering an interactive learning environment, promoting innovation, and ensuring equitable access to modern learning resources, particularly in light of the rapidly changing challenges facing the education sector.

Through this initiative, Zain Jordan has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the education sector and advancing digital transformation, reflecting its ongoing dedication to social responsibility and contributing to development across various sectors, including education. The company emphasized the importance of investing in education as a cornerstone for sustainable development and future growth, while leveraging telecommunications technology to serve diverse sectors.

The project will cover 1,500 public schools across all governorates of the Kingdom, aiming to reach the largest possible number of beneficiaries nationwide and promote inclusivity in its initiatives and programs.
